A member asked:

Does a pharmacist contact the doctor if there is a possible drug interaction?

Usually: If there is an interaction we usually get informed and asked whether or not we still want to use that particular medication or make adjustments with another medication. For example, we stop statin drugs for cholesterol when we prescribe an antifungal pill while the patient is taking the antifungal pill. If not on rx, pharmacist will usually call or fax us for approval.
