Loss, activation,: Some genes, tumor suppressors, control tumor development and alterations causing a loos of function of such genes may initiate tumors. Some genes regulate cell growth and constitutive activation of such genes may start a cancer. It usually takes multiple gene alterations to develop cancer and in general a cancer has alteration of 90 genes.
