A member asked:

How do scratches and cuts heal in diabetes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Wound healing: Healing of even minor injuries is a complex process involving clotting factors, white cells, vitamin c, presence or absence of infectious agents, and general metabolism including blood sugar levels. Optimal healing involves optimazation of the elements noted above. White cells fail to function optimally at blood sugars over 140 mg/dl and may allow infections and poor wound healing to occur.
