Observe for reaction: First, don't panic- millions of people are stung by bees everyday and it is only serious if they have an allergic reaction, which seldom happens. Signs of allergic reaction are significant redness/swelling around sting site/swelling of throat/difficulty breathing- call 911 if that happens. Otherwise calm your child & make sure the stinger is out. See comment for home remedies for discomfort:.

Bumble Bee sting: Agree w dr. Baker. The bumble bee does not lose it's stinger. Clean area with soap & warm water. Make a paste of 2 parts baking soda & 1 part water & apply. Or: apply an enzyme based meat tenderizer in a poultice & wrap area. Or: mix water & activated charcoal into a paste & apply.Throat, airway or tongue swelling – call 911.
