By exclusion: Leukoplakia is simply an unknown white area in your mouth. If you see such an area, it should be evaluated and often biopsied to determine the exact cause of this white tissue.

White Patch: The term leukoplakia simply means a white patch. It is a clinical term and there are many things that can present as leukoplakia. The only way to get a definitive diagnosis is to biopsy it.
