What's a healthy diet for adolescence?

Same as for others: A balanced diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts; and low in saturated fats should be good for adolescents as it is for other people. Growing adolescents may need more calories due to physical activity and growth.

Same as for all ages: Adolescents should receive the same nutrition as adults and younger children. The goal is daily fruits/veggies, lean protein, and calcium containing products. Adolescent females often need more calcium intake then adults (aim for about 1000mg daily).

Variety: healthy eating has each of the food groups : protein, carbohydrates, fruits and vegetables. Protein can come from meat, chicken fish, nuts. Carbohydrates can come from whole grains, whole grain breads, beans, legumes. Healthy fats such as poly and monounsaturated fats should be part of the diet ( 10-20% of the calories- and not exceed 30%). Try to avoid fried foods, and sugar drinks
