Are there any risks in taking humulin insulin?

Only if use too much: It's a safe insulin. Only risk is if you use too much in which case it will cause low blood sugar. Other possible side effects are: thickening tissue/fat at the injection site, pain at injection site, weight gain, pruritis (itchiness), rash, water/sodium retention.
