A member asked:

Why would need to check my blood sugar in pregnancy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Gestational diabetes: Pregnant women have a higher incidence of diabetes than in the non-pregnant state. Some women are diabetic only during pregnancy - gestational diabetes. Maternal diabetes affects fetal health and some women who had gestational diabetes later become diabetic. Gestational diabetes could be considered a pre-diabetic state.
