Through adrenaline: Emotions increase adrenaline which in turn increases oxygen demand for the heart. Additionally, emotions increase anxiety which can also manifest with chest pain.

Complex: Loss or perceived loss of a love object can induce the broken heart syndrome characterized by depression, apathy, loss of appetite, weight loss, staring, sighing, excessive sleeping, and thoughts of worthlessness. It doesn't cause physical pain but the emotional pain is worse. It's self-limiting but awful when present friends and family support is most useful to assist in recovery.
