Can munchausen proxy syndrome be prevented?

NOT REALLY: Munchausen proxy syndrome is where a parental figure fakes the child's illness. It is not preventable as it is the parent's mental illness that causes them to do this. Once it is picked up the parent can be sent for psych eval and treatment.
