Many factors: BP is the result of contraction of the heart against a volume of fluid (your blood volume) in a container ( your blood vessels). The force and rate of the heart contraction are variable. Volume of fluid in blood system is variable under control of oral intake and kidney output. Blood vessels are capable of expanding and contracting and changing the size of your "container" as well.

What is BP: when you heart beats it pumps out a bunch of blood into your arteries like into a hose. The pressure rises in your hose depending on how full your hose is, how fast your hose drains and how elastic your hose is and how fast your heart squeezes the blood into your hose,. The peak prrssure during the squeeze is called the systolic BP top #, lowest pressure when not squeezing is diastolic bottom #

BP definition.: The blood pressure is the resistance to blood flow through the body. The higher number is the resistance when the heart pumps, and the lower number is the resistance when the heart relaxes and fills. High BP can lead to problems with the heart, kidneys, eyes, blood vessels and brain.
