Occlusion, infection: The surgery involves a groin incision, remove the blockage with special device from the femoral artery and insertion of a stent . Rupture and bleeding could happen in the surgery and long term occlusion of the stent and the artery could happen . Infection in the groin area too . The good thing about this surgery is that it avoids a thigh incision which could add to pain and infection risk.
