Yes: All kids have a baseline potential, yet with a chronic illness, time away from class for checkups/hospitalizations/therapy can add up.The time away can mean they can fall behind their classmates.Over time the kid can catch up but the issue is a real one . Many children's hospitals make an effort to help kids keep up with their work if they are their for a longer stay.
