A short list: A study of what patients want included the following: -excellent pain and symptom control -not prolonging life inappropriately -achieving a sense of control -strengthening important relationship -reducing bürden on family (including non-biological family!) i would add--a place to be, either at home or in a facility that gives the patient a sense of security and peace.
