Dr. Kris Gast answered

Value of cancer: When a person is given a cancer diagnosis their life changes, dramaticallyit does so not by just the treatment and the side effects that than follow but by the fact that in most everyone's mind the reaper has laid a hand on their shoulder but not yet taken them. The things they do in life after seem more rewarding and meaningful after that diagnosis is given.
