Free oxygen radicals: Reactive oxygen species and related oxidant radicals damage the dna and such damage my inactivate tumor suppressor genes thus contributing to carcinogenesis. Dna damage may destroy dna repair genes and facilitate dancer development. Damage to dna may also result in constitutive activation of cancer causing genes and more things like that.
