Post injury swelling: Swelling of the foot following an ankle fracture could result in a tight fitting shoe in the forefoot and contribute to the development of a morton's neuroma.

Morton's neuroma: Unlikely, but a trimalleolar fracture can cause a change in one's gait and since a neuroma is an inflammatory problem of the nerve due to irriation (could be b/c of shoes, or an altered gait pattern) there may be a link, again it's very unlikely.
