25-30 L/min.: There are many variables. Cardiac output is stroke vol. X heart rate. At rest stroke vol. Is about 70 ml and rate is about 70 beats/min. During exercise cardiac output can be increased by about 5-6 times. The ability to increase cardiac output with exercise decreases with age due to decreased maximal blood volume capacity in the left ventricle (stroke vol.) and decreased maximal heart rate.
