USE CI: CO is a measure of liters per minute and normal is 4-6.0 l/m. BUT if it lower than that, it may still be ok . A small pt may get along just fine with a lower CO and a lager pt may need more than 6l/m. SO.. we correct for body surface area and get a CI and 2-4 l/m/m2. so 3.9 is prob just fine. of course clinical correlation is needed. The causes of low and high values are beyond the scope of this.
