What is it like to be diagnosed with prostate cancer?

Depends: Like any other cancer, it depends on the stage of the cancer. If it is very early stage cancer, there are typically no symptoms at all. If it is late stage disease, then there may be symptoms such as bone pain, bloody urine, kidney from blockage, and difficulty with urination.

Alarming: The diagnosis of any cancer is a life-shattering event. No word in any language is as emotionally laden as cancer. That said an overwhelming number of men with PC will never die from pc. The absolutes are high (240k new cases/30k deaths in 2012) but the vast majority will actually die from heart disease and stroke. Men must seek out docs with a comprehensive view of health to live well.
