Dr. Pam Yoder answered

Often >1, syndromes: For many reasons, obstetricians are sometimes limited in what they can see during fetal ultrasound exams. However, if they do see something abnormal, they might look again and/or refer a patient to a maternal-fetal medicine expert or radiologist for imaging to look for additional anomalies. This should be seen as an opportunity to learn more about the pregnancy and what is best for baby and mom.
