A member asked:

Should i take amoxicillin for what i think is salmonella?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Salmonellosis: Salmonellosis is, in most individuals, a self-limited illness with fever and several days of (usually) non-bloody, non-mucus-contaning, watery diarrhea. Individuals with a higher risk of more severe illness and possible mortality are infants, the elderly and immunocompromised people. Most cases resolve before the stool culture is positive and Ampicillin (or amoxicillin) resistance is not rare.
