Complication: If a perforation of the artery is noted, it would indicate that there has been a complication of the procedure itself. The artery has been torn by the catheter or wire . Ithis does not happen commonly but it can occur. It is a serious complication and can lead to bleeding in the sac around the heart and death. The bleeding can be controlled by blowing up a balloon in the artery or by a stent.
