See your doctor: If you suspect an eye infection you should see an eye doctor. Some eye infections do not require treatment whereas others can threaten your vision without treatment. Only your eye doctor can determine the type of infection and the best course of action. Self medicating is generally a bad idea, you can use artificial tears (not visine) for comfort.

Eye infection: You can flush out any mucus or dischange with artificial tears, remove crusting from lids with warm washcloth, and use topical antibiotics from your eye doctor.
