Not always.: The importance of cooking chicken adequately cannot be understated. Salmonella and/or Campylobacter were present in 66% of chicken samples in one study. Proper cooking to 165°F will destroy those organisms. If you are lucky enough that the chicken you cooked did not have these organisms, you will not get sick that time. It's important to have good technique in the kitchen. Good luck.
