Thorough exam: If a thorough exam is not possible in the office, an exam under anesthesia may be considered. Ideally, at that time, a pelvic/transvaginal ultrasound should be done in the OR. This may be the only way to detect rare conditions, like a stone in a urethral diverticulum.
