DYSPHAGIA: or pain on swallowing has many causes from irritationns in the throat (acid reflux, infection) to obstructions in the esophagus (gullet). You need an evaluation by a Gastroenterologist or ENT (Ear Nose Throat) specialist! Good Luck Hope this helps Dr Z

Dysphasia: Swallowing pain can be for multiple reasons. Sometimes swallowing something hard can cause pain and irritation. Fungal infections can cause painful swallowing. There are conditions like achalasia or "nutcracker" esophagus can cause this.
