A member asked:

I recently had a tsh test where my level was 4.86. i was pretty stressed and run-down at the time. any chance it was a false positive as a result?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

TSH 4.86: This is a slightly high level and suggests that your T4 and T3 (liothyronine) are a bit below the reference range. You cannot rely on TSH alone so you should check with your doctor that the other two items were measured. If not they need to be done. When completed appropriate management should take place.
