The early the better: If the loved ones present any of 10 early signs of ad (www.Alz.Org/10signs), then go to any of physician's office, preferably geriatric specilaist, as soon as possible.

Dementia?: We now know that pet scans can detect the earliest markers of alzheimer's disease 10-15 yrs prior to clinical symptoms. Spinal fluid markers may also be present yrs before. Yet, it is not clear whether testing is beneficial prior to symptoms, as current treatment is only of modest value. Best to do neuropsych testing, as often other problems may be present such as depression.
