I was diagnosed with guillian-barre syndrome in october. i'm 11 weeks pregnant. can i have an epidural during birth?

Yes with consult: This is a viral syndrome which should be resolved by the 3rd trimester. You should be able to get an epidural. Please review this with your obgyn and ask for an anesthesia consult for definitive answers

Guillian-Barre Synd.: This disease is usually brief in duration, and should not interfere with the use of an epidural once it subsides. Of course, your anesthesia provider will determine whether it is advisable given its duration and effect the time of delivery. Fortunately there are other possibilities which can control pain other than an epidural. Ask your healthcare provider to consult with an anesthesia expert.
