Depends: Guillian barre syndrome certainly can cause leg weakness. Weakness usually progresses over several days to weeks, if it is more slowly progressive this is not as consistent with gbs, and may suggest other neuromuscular diseases. This problem really requires close follow up with your neurologist.

Yes,: The weakness usually starts from the feet and ascends as the nerves are affected in a similae ascending fashion. In severe cases it may affect the breathing muscles.
