What is the reason behind coagulated blood in period?

Besides...: Besides blood the period represents the discharge of "not used" tissue from the walls of your uterus(womb) so that is part of it. Your body also creates a clot whenever there is bleeding to avoid severe hemorrhage. In this case platelets and other factors form the clot with that purpose.
