Dry skin/cracked lip: Signs (which can be observed) include dry rough skin, cracked lips & sparse coarse hair. Symptoms include poor appetite, bone & joint pain, fatigue, weakness, headache, nausea, blurred vision & absence of menstrual periods. This generally comes from taking 50, 000 units a day for months at a time and is reversible upon stopping. There are no problems from excess beta carotene except yellow skin.
