A member asked:

I recently got a skyla iud. no test before hand, what if i was early pregnant when they placed it? would they see it ? would it kill it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Miscarriage risk: This can only be a guess but I don't believe the Skyla would directly disrupt a pregnancy. Generally IUD's are an infection risk in pregnancy, which can trigger a miscarriage or premature labor. They should be removed if at all possible even though doing that might itself cause a miscarriage. Since we don't deliberately place IUD's during pregnancy it is hard to predict risk with any accuracy.
