A member asked:

Side effects of a double adrenalectomy? do you lose the appropriate fear response to fearful situations

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No adrenalin, cortiso: Once your adrenal glands are removed, you do not make essential adrenal hormones such as cortisol and aldosterone. You would need to be on oral medications to replace these hormones. Adrenalin will also not be made, but this is not an essential hormone. Although you would still be fearful, you would not get an adrenalin "surge" in response to that fear. No replacement hormone is given for that
