No: Unlikely. Xanax (alprazolam) and alcohol can have additive sedative effects but a single beer with a single Xanax (alprazolam) is unlikely to cause serious problems. That said, don't take this combination and drive.

Trouble: You have become physically defendant on it. There are ways to change this. Sleep issues are a very common problem, the root of which needs looked into. It's only after a thorough timeline and evaluation that your treatment will be as specific as possible. Depression, thyroid/adrenal/ and other possibilities need entertained. Please seek advice asap.

Disinhibition: A percentage of the population will react to sedatives by getting agitated. It is a well recognized side effect that may occurs with other similar acting medications or only with xanax (alprazolam).
