Ok: at your age they may be additive, but not dangerous.
If you were elderly there would be more to consider.

A 36-year-old member asked:
Will you be hurt if you drink one beer while taking xanax (alprazolam)?

No: Unlikely. Xanax (alprazolam) and alcohol can have additive sedative effects but a single beer with a single Xanax (alprazolam) is unlikely to cause serious problems. That said, don't take this combination and drive.

Trouble: You have become physically defendant on it. There are ways to change this. Sleep issues are a very common problem, the root of which needs looked into. It's only after a thorough timeline and evaluation that your treatment will be as specific as possible. Depression, thyroid/adrenal/ and other possibilities need entertained. Please seek advice asap.

A 35-year-old member asked:
Took Xanax (alprazolam) and got really agitated coming off it. Why?

Disinhibition: A percentage of the population will react to sedatives by getting agitated. It is a well recognized side effect that may occurs with other similar acting medications or only with xanax (alprazolam).

A 40-year-old member asked:
How long does Xanax (alprazolam) stay in your body?

A few hours to a day: The half life (time it takes for 50% of the medication to be eliminated from your body) is 11-24 hours. For most patients, the effects of the medication lasts for a few to several hours.
