Are chia seeds good for lowering cholesterol?

Any seed helps: Seeds are rich in unsaturated fats. Diets that contain a lot of these fats tend to decrease bad LDL cholesterol and increase good HDL cholesterol. This would be true for diets that contain chia seeds as well as those that contain other forms of seeds or nuts or vegetable oils. Be aware that the magnitude of the change in cholesterol is not generally large and so medication may still be needed.

Oat,barley;flaxseeds: The grains that lower cholesterol the most are oats, flaxseeds and barley. Whole grain breads that contain one or more of these will help lower cholesterol- see http://www.Healthaliciousness.Com/articles/foods-which-lower-cholesterol.Php but be aware that cholesterol is not the major cause of heart disease- inflammation is! see http://bit.Ly/1era8lt ; http://bit.Ly/13o0nkq.

Options.: Red yeast rice is a naturally occurring statin which has a similar mechanism to actual prescription medications but which occurs naturally. As well, look into Niacin supplementation and, of course, fish oils. A high fiber diet will help lower cholesterol as well. Don't underestimate the power of a healthful meal and exercise plan.
