A member asked:

What is the difference between artificial tears and regular naphcon?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Naphcon = medication: Naphcon drops are vaso-constrictors that constrict the blood vessels on the surface of the eye. They should only be used for a short time. Long term usage can cause rebound vaso-congestion which results in worsening redness in the eyes when the drop is not used. Using it more than a few times a day for a few weeks is likely too long. Artifical tears are better for a lubricant for dry eyes.
