Ask the experts...: A standard prenatal vitamin should cover all your needs; discuss the matter further with your OB if you have more concerns...Citranatal harmony was recalled in july last time i looked; so you should not take it anyway.

Hard but possible: Yes, you can. It is harder than normal, though. You want to go over your options with your obgyn. Metformin is widely used now to counteract Insulin resistance and that may help ovulation. I had one case of pregnancy in patient whom i gave actos (pioglitazone). Clomid is a frequently used medication to induce ovulation. You will need a comprehensive work up first, though, so don't delay - be seen!

What are the steps to concieving a child if you have pcos?

May be easy!: Most women with pcos have a very good chance of ultimately getting pregnant, if they get the right help. If you are not ovulating regularly, an ovulation-inducing medicine (e.g. Clomid) can accomplish this. The other important thing is to know when you are ovulating so you can try to conceive at the right time! your doctor can help you with any of this!
A 28-year-old member asked:

How does metformin help pcos symptoms?

Glucose/insulin: Part of the problems caused by pcos can be elevated levels of glucose (sugar) and Insulin (the hormone that regulates glucose), both generally in the body and locally in the ovary. Metformin is a diabetes medication that helps decrease Insulin and glucose levels, thereby improving your ability to ovulate (and possibly the quality of the eggs too).

The normal way: Watching calories always helps. Hopefully, you are using metformin which has a dual benefit of controlling Insulin resistance and promoting weight loss.

Weight loss usually is much less with the more expensive extended release metformin.
