JHS: 21 yo "flexible" female's joints pop painlessly with movement & suggest that she has Joint Hypermobility Syndrome (JHS), which is a normal female variant; often associated with Premenstrual Disorder (PMD). JHS can have associated disorders if the sacroiliac joint ligaments become permanently damaged; such as chronic widespread pain, chronic low back pain, fibromyalgia, sciatica, & IBS.

Possibly: Are you considered "double jointed", meaning do you have unusually mobile joints? For example, when you fully extent your arm, does it bend backwards at the elbow? The sound you hear is probably caused by bones, ligaments &/or tendons rubbing together. Excessively mobile joints can be a symptom of Ehrlos-Danlos syndrome. I recommend you see you doctor about this.
