Went to my gp due to a chest infection he said he heard some crackles in my lungs does this mean pneumonia or can it still be just a chest infection ?

Not necessarily : A chest infection can be either viral or bacterial. Both of these can cause the mentioned crackles. Plead follow the advice of your doctor and return to see him if your symptoms worsen.
