No and Yes: Before ovulation, a woman cannot get pregnant, because the egg is not out of the ovary yet. However, she can receive sperm 2 days before ovulation and get pregnant after ovulation from that sperm. Sex more than 1-2 days after ovulation is usually too late to cause pregnancy because the egg is over 2 days old. The tricky part is that she cannot know exactly when her egg will pop out of her ovary.
