A member asked:

My mother in law tried to overdose on lorazapam in august. is it legal for her doctor to keep prescribing her this medication?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

SureHasThePotential!: Technically it's probably not illegal per se, but it sure is a bad idea. If it is prescribed and something bad happens, that prescription will morph into a legal noose around the neck of whomever wrote it. In my opinion, your mother-in-law should have no drugs like that around her unless for some reason she's in the hospital and for some reason it's been decided that she needs it.
