Possibly in smokers: Some studies have found high doses of beta carotene in smokers increases lung cancer risk, yet other studies have found it doesn't increase risk. Antioxidants work as a team & the studies showing increased risk gave beta carotene without other antioxidants to balance it. See http://tinyurl.com/p34vo4b It's wiser to take mixed carotenoids & get through diet. If you smoke use caution-better to quit!
