A member asked:

The was something on the margin of my lip so i pressed it when i woke up my lip was swollen. what happened and what can i do to relief the swelling

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If not better see PCP : Swelling probably from trauma of mashing the lesion and may benefit from cold compresses or application of a cool, wet, black-tea bag, but could also be a herpes infection or other viral or bacterial infection or even an allergic reaction (for which Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or other antihistamine may be helpful), so recommend seeing your primary care provider (PCP) if not better after 24 hours.
