Go back to doctor: This may not be bacterial which is why it is not improving on antibiotics or it is the wrong type of antibiotic. Go back for a follow-up

Hard to say: If you had strep documented by quick test or culture & took a penicillin based drug, you have been treated enough to eliminate that germ. You could be concurrently infected with one of many viruses, like mono, that often runs with strep & can have a prolonged course. If you haven't been able to resume your normal activities a re-check is in order.
