Are you sure it was: an insect bite? Sometimes it may actually be an infected gland in the skin or cyst that appears to be an insect bite. I would not recommend popping it at home. You can apply warm compresses several times per day and if it is still getting larger or not getting smaller, have your doctor look at it. You may need to have it drained by a doctor and/or need an oral antibiotics.
