Most likely a virus: Change in phlegm color is usually due to a virus like the common cold. Drink plenty of fluid. Can use a decongestant such as pseudofed or Mucinex (guaifenesin) D and/or saline nasal spray. Most of these will clear in 7-10 days. Persistant colored phlegm, congestaht, sinus headache, cough, could indicate a sinus infection. Sometimes antibiotics and prescription nasal sprays to shrink nasal swelling are need
