No worries: You chances of an STD from a kiss are minimal to none. Canker sores are not viral, cold sores are and the difference between the two can be determined on exam. Cold sores, caused by a herpes virus, can lead to transmission of the virus but this is not considered an STD and is not the same as genital herpes. .
