HIV screening: An ELISA is often done as an initial HIV screening test. It is designed to have high sensitivity for most types of HIV in the gene real population, but does have some false positives. That being said, there are some types of HIV, e.g. type O, that are unusual outside of Cameroon or West Africa, but are not recognized by usual antibody tests. Check with an I.D. specialist for your area and test.
